DAY 1: Arrival at Sofia airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay in Sofia.
DAY 2: Breakfast. Guided tour of Sofia – capital of Bulgaria since 1879 - St. Nedelya cathedral, St. George rotunda, Russian church St. Nicholas, St. Alexander Nevsky cathedral, St. Sofia church, Ivan Vazov National Theater. Lunch. A visit of the National Museum of History and the Boyana Church. The Boyana Church is included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage and has preserved frescoes of an unknown artist, which date back to the year 1259. The frescoes impress with the spirituality and expressiveness of their images, created 7 years before the birth of Giotto di Bondone, considered to be the first Renaissance artist. Dinner. Overnight stay in Sofia.
DAY 3: Breakfast. A visit of the Rila Monastery – the biggest monastery in Bulgaria, founded in the 10th century by the monk and hermit St. John of Rila, patron and protector of Bulgaria. The monastery served as the center for cultural and spiritual life of the Bulgarian people, during the centuries of ottoman occupation. The tour includes a visit of the monastery, the main church and the monastery museum. Lunch. Departure for Plovdiv – one of Europe’s most ancient cities, older than Athens, Rome and Constantinople. Arrival. Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay in Plovdiv.
DAY 4: Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Plovdiv – a tour of the old town, which represents one of the most spectacular ensembles of town houses from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival (middle of the 18th century until the end of the 19th century). Visit of Saints Constantine and Helena Church, Roman Theatre, Regional Ethnographic Museum. Lunch. In the afternoon - departure to Nesebar or Sunny Beach. Arrival. Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay in Nesebar or Sunny Beach.
DAY 5: Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Nesebar – the old town, included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage (churches from the 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th centuries). Lunch. In the afternoon – departure to Varna – Bulgaria’s sea capital. Arrival in Varna. Accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 6: Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Varna - Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral and the Archeological Museum, where the famous Varna golden treasure is exhibited – the oldest processed gold in the world (more than 6000 years old). Lunch. In the afternoon – departure to Ruse, the fifth biggest city in Bulgaria and the biggest Bulgarian port-city on the Danube river. Ruse is also known as the Danubian capital of Bulgaria. In the center of Ruse one can find the most beautiful city houses in Bulgaria, built after the Liberation (1878) in baroque, rococo, secession and neoclassicism styles. Arrival in Ruse. Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay in Ruse.
DAY 7: Breakfast. Visit of Ruse city center with its buildings from the end of 19th century. Lunch. In the afternoon – departure to Veliko Tarnovo – the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire (1187-1396). On the way – visit of Ivanovo rock-hewn churches, included in UNESCO’s list of World Cultural Heritage. Arrival, accommodation, dinner and overnight stay in Veliko Tarnovo.
DAY 8: Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo – Tsarevets hill, Samovodska Charshia. A visit of the historical village of Arbanasi - the Konstantsaliev’s House – one of the biggest and most lavishly decorated houses of the Bulgarian National Revival and the Church of the Nativity of Christ, the oldest church in Arbanasi, unique with its frescoes. Lunch. Departure to Sofia. Arrival, accommodation in the hotel. Dinner in a typical Bulgarian restaurant with a folklore program. Overnight stay in Sofia.
DAY 9: Breakfast. Transfer to Sofia airport.
