Thracian Tomb of Aleksandrovo
The Thracian Tomb of Aleksandrovo was found in 2000, some 20 km to the northeast of the town of Haskovo. It dates from 4th century B.C and is one of the brightest monuments of the Thracian culture. It reveals very well-preserved wall paintings, which depict 23 human figures and provide new data about the Thracian religious rituals, cults, imagination, lifestyle and clothing and reveals us once again the high artistic skills of Thracian painters.
An accurate copy of the tomb and its unique wall paintings is seen in the special Museum of Thracian Art, located near the original Tomb of Aleksandrovo. It accommodates a rich collection of exhibits of the Thracian art, found in the east part of the Rhodopes Mountain. The Thracian Tomb with Wall Paintings near Aleksandrovo village is included in the indicative list of UNESCO in 2004.
